A Qing Dynasty lady’s shoulder mantle, featuring extremely intricate patterns and embroidery techniques. The outer layer is designed in the shape of ruyi clouds, the middle layer in the shape of bats, and the inner layer in the shape of banana leaves, fully decorated with flowers, fruits, animals, and insects. The monkey motif (symbolizing immediate promotion to marquis) is particularly charming. The embroidery techniques include gold-thread embroidery, seed stitch, satin stitch, among five or six other methods. Such a complete piece, framed beautifully, is exquisite and magnificent.
