“Sanyi Lou Restaurant” blue and white large bowl from the Qing Dynasty, with a diameter of 22 cm. The exterior of the bowl is painted with blue and white figures, while the interior bottom features a blue and white landscape. Near the rim on the inside, a circle of auspicious fruit patterns is painted. The blue and white color has a blue hue with flashes of gray, and it stands on a high foot ring. Porcelain from the Qing Dynasty bearing business names is extremely rare, indicating that the restaurant was willing to commission branded porcelain, which demonstrates their commitment to and pride in the quality of their dishes. In the late Ming and mid-Qing periods, well-known commercial brands emerged among the common folk, such as “Hu Wenming” for copper processing, “Bao Tiancheng” for rhinoceros horn, “Jiang Qianli” for lacquerware, and Qing Dynasty brands like “Tong Ren Tang” and “Sheng Xi Fu”. This “Sanyi Lou Restaurant” bowl is both an antique art piece and a tangible proof of the socio-economic life in the Qing Dynasty.
