Carved from natural rock crystal (not glass), this Maitreya Buddha is flawless, devoid of any impurities or visible lines, discernible only under a high-powered magnifying glass as a product of natural materials. Its brilliance shines under light, radiating a sparkling and luminous glow. The Maitreya Buddha is depicted with hands resting on the knees, bare-chested, and with an exposed abdomen, seated in a full lotus position, with a perpetual smiling expression, crescent-shaped eyebrows, portraying a joyful and carefree demeanor. The facial features exhibit typical characteristics of the mid-Qing Dynasty.
Crystal, also known as “shuiyu” or “shuibai” in ancient times, is highly prized when it possesses immaculate purity. In Buddhist scriptures, crystal is listed as one of the four treasures, believed to hold the power of universal salvation and protection against malevolent forces. The dimensions are approximately 8 cm in height, 8 cm in base width, and it weighs around 190 grams.
